Cydalima perspectalis (Walker, 1859) – inwazyjny gatunek motyla w faunie Polski (Lepidoptera: Crambidae)

Tomasz Blaik , Grzegorz Hebda , Janusz Masłowski

Cydalima perspectalis is native to the subtropical regions of East Asia; it has recently been introduced into Europe where it is rapidly spreading. Despite its good flying abilities, the rapid expansion of the species is mostly explained by transport of its preimaginal stages with its main host plant (Buxus). The first individual in Poland was observed in 2012 in Michałkowa in the Sowie Mts, where in 2013 pupae were also found. In 2015 the moth was also observed in the environs of Opole and Kraków. All the records come from gardens in rural areas, besides one specimen was observed in the city centre. Further extension of the species’ range in Poland and increase of its role as a pest of Buxus can be expected in subsequent years.
